Use hands to show the numbers as the song is sung. The child shows five on the left hand and the rest on the right hand. Why start with the left hand? Because we read left to right. Also, the AL Abacus displays the numbers in the same format. For example, seven is entered on the abacus with five blue beads (on the left) and two yellow beads (on the right).
